A lot of people tend to doubt God. At least I did.
I doubted His power, his love, and even His existence. In the beginning of 2018, I was a completely different person. I had just decided to leave God behind and live life the way I wanted to.
SPOILER ALERT: It didn’t end very well! I got involved in the wrong crowd, which then introduced me to all the wrong things. In reality, this was all just a temporary way to distract me from how broken and lost I truly was. I had no one to blame but myself for that mess.
Why did I leave behind my faith in the first place, you may ask?
When I began my walk with the Lord, I had the completely wrong mindset. I thought that the only way for Him to love me was if I became some kind of sinless saint—a perfect person. I put a heavy expectation on myself to be as perfect and holy as possible. But, no matter how hard I tried, I didn’t feel like I was worthy enough for His love. That mindset is exactly what scares so many people away from God.
Everything changed when I began to truly understand what Romans 5:8 means, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
This Scripture hit me hard! Once I truly began to understand it's significance, I can now see that the only true and perfect one is Jesus Christ. No other being ever claiming to be god has done for me what He did. Not Buddha, Muhammad, or any golden statute. They are all false.
No matter what, we are human and we face struggles. That is not because of God, but due to the nature of this fallen world that we live in.
Even still, through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God sees us as worthy to be loved. It is because He loves us so much that he literally sent His son to die on that cross for us.
Without Christ, there was no light in my life. Everything was dark and hopeless. But in September of 2018, I came back to God and was wrapped up in His arms again.
I finally realized that regardless of all my imperfections, I’m still loved. And so are you.
Even in your darkest moments when you think you’re at your worst, He sees you! God already knows all of it, and nothing is going to stop Him from loving you.
All you have to do is receive Him. Receive His love. Receive the sacrifice of Jesus into your life, and allow Him to transform you.
His hand is always there to lift you up, you just have to grab it. The time is now!
If you would like to receive Jesus Christ into your hear today, pray this prayer out loud and from the heart. It is not about these words exactly, it abouour sincerity and desire to make Jesus Christ Lord over your entire life:
Thank you Jesus for dying for my sins. I recognize that I am a sinner and that you died so that I could be made whole. You died so that I could be set free and forgiven and healed. I receive your forgiveness right now and I ask you to be the Lord of my life. I want a 180 degree change. Please help me read my Bible, and get plugged into a local church. That way I can walk step by step with your Spirit.
